Fifth graders can now help and guide their ALTs and other foreigners who will visit Japan by giving directions in English. The “Treasure Hunting” game helped them enhance their skills in doing so. In this game, students needed to find the treasure and gave directions using a map. 5 年生は、ALT や日本を訪れる他の外国人に英語で道案内をすることができるようになりました。 「宝探し」ゲームは、英語で道案内をするスキルを向上させるのに役立ちました。このゲームは、宝物を見つけるために、地図を使って道順を示す必要がありました。Students used the expressions correctly and confidently gave directions to their partners. On the other hand, ALTs assisted some pairs who had a hard time telling the directions, after several practice, they were able to say the target sentences. 子ども達は表現を正しく使いながら、自信を持って友達に指示を出しました。なかなか活動が難しい児童には、ALT がサポートし、何度か練習した結果、言えるようになりました。

This activity further helped the students improve their navigation skills in English and the confidence to tell other people about the places, especially in Tomioka.

この活動は、子ども達が英語で道案内をするスキルを向上させ、特に富岡の場所について他の人に自信を持って伝えるのに役立ちました。
