ハッピー ハロウィーン!

At Ichinomiya, we love learning while having fun in English! #Funglish
Our energetic 4th graders are having a blast participating in various Halloween games while learning about Halloween English words and expressions. 

 一ノ宮小では、英語を楽しみながら学ぶ、まさに『Funglish』を大事にしています。その中で、元気いっぱいの4年生は『ハロウィーン』特有の言葉や表現を学びながら、ハロウィーンにまつわるゲームを思いっきり楽しみました。

The first activity was identifying Halloween characters/objects. New words were unlocked! The second activity was the Gesture Game, where a leader (teacher/student) would show three actions a witch, a bat, and a ghost. They enjoyed playing this game and showed competitiveness to receive our lovely Halloween stickers.

まず初めに、ハロウィーンでよく登場する人物や物を確認しました。新しい単語でしたが、しっかり習得できました!2つ目の活動は、リーダーとなる先生や生徒たちが、魔女・コウモリ・お化けの3つに扮する『ジェスチャーゲーム』でした。かわいいハロウィーンシール争奪戦を繰り広げながらとても楽しみました。

ALTs also shared how they are celebrating Halloween in the Philippines. They were shocked that Filipinos brought food and had karaoke at the cemetery. Seeing their happy faces and receiving their rewards motivated us to add more exciting activities for them to experience in future events.花丸

ALTからは、フィリピンでのハロウィーンが紹介されました。フィリピンでは、ハロウィーンの際、人々がお墓に食べ物を持っていき、お墓の前で食べたりカラオケをしたりすることに、とてもびっくりしていました。生徒たちの喜ぶ顔や頑張る姿を見ると、彼らの将来の経験のために、さらなる楽しい活動を・・・という私たちのモチベーションアップにつながっています。花丸

Who makes better curry?

誰がより美味しいカレーを作れるかな?

Sixth graders made their original curry recipe to recommend to ALTs. They shared the unique name of their curry and the ingredients they wanted.

6年生は、2人のALTにおススメするカレーのレシピを考えました。そのカレーにはユニークな名前も付けられ、彼らが入れたいと思う食材が入っています。また、その食材の生産地も特有の味も伝えてくれました。

The sixth graders came up with curry recipes to recommend to the two ALTs, with unique names and ingredients they wanted to include.

『ナルトゲーム』を行って、それぞれの食べ物の味に関するヒントを与え合うこともできました。このゲームを通じて、楽しみながらもきちんと学べたことがわかります。

They also shared where the ingredients come from and the taste of their original curry. Students also played a Naruto game, where they gave hints about the taste of their food. Everyone enjoyed and participated in this game.

 ALTはこうした活動を見ながら確信できました、生徒たちはカレーのレシピを上手に決めることができたのだと。

生徒たちは、子供ながらに自分自身で決定できるということを学び得たと言えるでしょう。まさに自立学習です! みんながんばりました!

ALTs observed the activity, and they were able to pull it off. It was good to know that our students could decide on their recipes for the curry. It means that they are taught at a young age to decide for themselves. Independent learning it is ! Good job everyone!Star

The ALT was convinced by these activities that the students were able to decide on a curry recipe well. The students learned that they could make their own decisions even though they were still children. This is truly independent learning! Everyone did their best!Star

道案内をお願いします左上右

Students from fifth graders challenged themselves in a pair activity. The gym was used to be the town, and students have to give and follow directions to find different facilities in town.

5年生はペア活動で道案内に挑戦しました。体育館を街に見立てそこにある様々な施設へ、お互いに道案内をしたりされたりする活動です。

The guide will hold the map and give directions, while the other student will ask, “Where is the _____?” and follow the instructions from their partner.

案内する側は地図を持って方向を教え、される側は「○○はどこですか?」とたずね教えられた方向へと進んで行きます。

Students expressed so much joy as they successfully found their way on different facilities. This is a great practice that they may use in the real world.花丸

それぞれ建物を上手に見つけられる度に、子供たちは大喜びでした。この活動は現実世界でも役に立つ素晴らしい練習となっています。花丸
